Competition Categories

​Think you’ve got what it takes to be crowned Mr Margate 2026? Come and strut your stuff in front of our judges down our Mo-tastic catwalk!
 

1. Best Moustache

Classic Mo energy — from handlebars to pencil lines, this is the show-opener and a crowd favourite.

Judging Criteria: Style, grooming, originality, confidence.

2. Best Beard (Groomed)

For those who’ve mastered the art of tidy, intentional grooming. Think shape, lines, and product finish.

Judging Criteria: Precision, health, shine, presentation.

3. Best Beard (Natural)

The wild ones! Celebrate authentic growth and character — the bigger and bushier, the better.

Judging Criteria: Fullness, natural charm, crowd appeal.
4. Most Creative Facial Hair

For the showmen — dyed beards, sculpted shapes, unusual twists, and playful self-expression.

Judging Criteria: Originality, effort, wow factor.
5. Best “Moustache in Progress”

For Mo newcomers and patchy legends. A light-hearted crowd-pleaser and an inclusive category for those just starting their beard journey.

Judging Criteria: Growth effort, humour, potential.
6. Best Kids Facial Hair

For the little legends of Margate! Kids (and proud parents) can craft and wear their own creative facial hair — made from anything: paper, felt, wool, seaweed, glitter, you name it.

Judging Criteria: Creativity, Effort, Confidence on stage, Originality of materials

​7. People’s Choice

Let the audience decide 

Judging Criteria: Crowd response.
8. Mr. Margate 2026 (Overall Champion)

The grand finale — chosen from the winners of all other categories by your judges.

Prize: Trophy and eternal local fame.

Each winner will receive prizes from local sponsors, but most importantly the honour of joining Margate’s most distinguished gentlemen.

How to Enter

​Entry fee: £3 per category, with ALL proceeds going to Prostate Cancer UK to support men’s physical and cancer research. (Entry Fee collected on the day)

• Registration opens from 1 PM inside the market

• Contests begin at 2 PM sharp — don’t be late, gents!

• Stick around for great food/drink, music and seaside vibes​
